Welcome to Olufunmi,

A Rastafarian church and spiritual community established in 1976. Our church is the people we worship with and work with not a building. Our community is livicated to the service of the Creator (JAH) through our works for the upliftment and advancement of, and service to, humanity, as shown to us through the works of His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I, Empress Menen, and the teachings of Rasta Patriarch Joseph Hibbert.

Olufunmi is, always has been, and will remain at the forefront of the Rastafari movement. Our order is constantly organizing to meet the needs of an ever growing and younger generation of people interested in the Rastafari movement, while maintaining our connection with our roots and traditions. Olufunmi is about building community.

There is too much hate in the world these days. Hatred propagated by the powers that be and insecure folks who need to feel as though they are better than someone else and have power over them. Add to that, unabated greed, corruption, and the increase of ignorance and hate fueled by political powers and agendas, plus War and rumors of war all around the world; In Ukraine and Russia, in Yemen, in Palestine and Israel, in the Sudan and more, all bringing us closer to a world which could destroy humanity.

In the U.S., homelessness is at an all-time high. Our whole Nation suffers from PTSD. Suicides and depression, already at record levels, are increasing among all demographics. High drug overdoses and abuse riddle our populace despite draconian drug laws and policies. Life expectancy is decreasing. 70% of our nation can’t afford their medical care when they have it. Environmental catastrophes due to global warming are increasing in number, frequency, and magnitude. Racial animus has seen a sharp incline, especially in the United States. Economic disparity, the like of which we’ve not seen since the “Gilded Age” (post-Civil War to the early 1900’s), makes life for most people far harder than past generations and getting worse. Corporations and the military industrial complex control politics and politicians, creating and adding to the breakdown of public trust and the cohesion of our society. All these things were predicted in the late sixties and early seventies by the “Love Generation” as the consequences of not promoting love in all we do and are the direct result of the lack of love in how we deal with each other and the world.

Love is the answer. It may seem quaint and naive, but it is true. If we do things with true love in our hearts, there is no limit to how much better we can make our world. RASTA REGGAE ARTIST VINNY TAYLOR THANKS THE COMMUNITY !!!

Recently our Brethren Rasta-reggae artist, Vinny Taylor, was  diagnosed with very early stages of prostate cancer. His father and brother died from prostate cancer. So this is serious for Vinny. Fortunately it was diagnosed at an early enough point that an operation could take care of it if done soon enough. Unfortunately, the operation was very expensive, and Olfunmi reached out to the community for help raising the fnds for the operation. Well, we were successful, people responded, and the funds were rased, He's had the operation which was successful, removing the cancer, and Vinny is recovering. He sends his thanks to all those who helped.

You've probably heard some of his music, but didn't know it was him. His career started in 1966 and he has worked with all of the classic studios and producers. His career has been focused in the tourist establishments, and hotels in JA, and in Europe and South America. He wrote the theme song for our "Turn Hate 2 Love"(THTL) campaign, and has been working on several new albums.

The JRC (Justice Reform Coalition) has been a project of Olufunmi since 2005. It serves the community as a civil rights and justice oversite group livicated to "Equal Rights and Justice For All".

The Justice Reform Coalition, or JRC, is a not for profit organization of diverse individuals and organizations who have the common goal of creating a better free society by holding those who govern, enforce the laws, and make profits from the citizens of our society accountable, and to empowering our citizens with the knowledge, resources and means to create and maintain that accountability.

The JRC members are active community organizers and advocates deeply concerned with the need for oversight and accountability of our officials, and the protection of our rights. We are open to all citizens and organizations that are concerned with the problems and abuse in our society and interested in working toward an effective and empowering solution to its problems.

With the chaos of Babylon consuming the world in hate and disallusionment our mission to bring peace, love, health, happy-ness, and unity through Rastafari is even more pressing and needed as an example of how to build community, and work in the world. We also see that, in the words of Pablo Moses, "the spirit of JAH is moving, and all over the world Rasta is growing". More people are embracing Rastafari for awhile then leaving the spiritual discipline of Rastafari because they fail to find the one necessary thing needed to help them live that lifestyle; a community to support them. Olufunmi is that community.

As we head towards our 50th year InI give thanks to the Most High that even with the trials and tribulations, ups and downs, setbacks and opposition, Olufunmi has continued to progress in its mission. Painstakingly slow over the last half of that time, but ever forward. Establishing the foundation for moving into the future. "The Roots Growing Deeper Taking Stronger Hold". Building community is a major goal of Olufunmi. So we are extending our membership to all Rasta and those interested in being part of a Rasta community.
